This photograph was taken from a very old oscilloscope from the 1980s.
It is not a long time exposure.
The figure is called a Lissajous curve after the French physicist Jules Lissajous.
It's created from two audio signals that deflect an electron beam
in X and Y direction to draw the curve.
  • Software-Synth: Ableton Live
  • Analog oscilloscope: EO213
  • Camera: Canon 450D (ISO1600, f5.6, 1/15)

An inverse Menger sponge.

That’s a display of my poor Rubik's-Cube solving skills.

Don't be fooled by the title.
The cube is unfinished, not the picture.
